About this spot

Praia da Areia Branca is an exposed sandy beach break on the Lourinhã coast, just south of Peniche. Its river mouth and shifting sandbanks create left- and right-hand peaks. The spot tends to work best with W/NW swell, E/NE offshore wind and a low-to-mid tide.

It is a versatile spot where surfers of all levels, from beginners to advanced riders, can find good conditions, depending on the size and organisation of the surf. Access is straightforward, but larger swells can create stronger currents and cause some sections to close out, so it is worth checking the conditions before setting off.
